The Medical Organization for Latino Advancement (MOLA) and the National Association of Medical Spanish (NAMS) have joined forces!
About this event
NAMS (former MST) and MOLA are 100% volunteer-based organizations that are aiming to improve health for Latinos, and ultimately health care for all!
Professors, physicians, faculty, deans, course directors, and students—most of them being underrepresented minorities—will meet to:
1. Discuss the progress achieved to date by the MST and provide an overview of the Medical Spanish Standardized Curriculum National Study.
2. Provide faculty development to prepare attendees to implement medical Spanish curricula, design class-time, and assess learner competencies, focused on the medical school setting.
3. Identify next steps needed for medical Spanish education to continue to develop and grow in the U.S. and beyond, including: research, curricular implementation, and assessment.
4. Collaborate across institutions and disciplines in order to make true language concordance a reality in the healthcare for our global community
5. Advance the health and wellbeing of vulnerable, underserved communities.
