Celebrate the launch of the second book in the Saint Philomene's Infirmary for Magical Creatures series by W. Stone Cotter.
About this event
Join us in celebrating the release of W. Stone Cotter's Second Chance, the young readers fantasy sequel to Saint Philomene's Infirmary for Magical Creatures, a brother and sister duo return to a magical underground realm to prevent disaster.
Chance and Pauline Jeopard have been on an incredible adventure—one they can never talk about. After all, who would believe that a magical realm exists deep below ground, home to extraordinary creatures found only in fables? Worse yet, what if someone did believe?
When a miner finds out about Donbaloh and threatens to drill and destroy it, Chance and Pauline must travel back to warn its inhabitants—risking it all in the process.
Praise for the series:
“A hilarious romp through a new underground world."-Kirkus Reviews
"Cotter’s third-person narration darts nimbly among Chance, Pauline, Mersey, and other characters, spinning a suspenseful and humorous adventure that will keep readers entertained throughout."-Publishers Weekly
"Nonstop action and a whacky hidden world with creatures both good and evil will make this a favorite for fantasy fans."-School Library Journal
"The worldbuilding is creative and richly detailed... a satisfyingly silly and fast-paced sequel."-Kirkus Reviews
Attendance at this event is free; however, we encourage you to support authors and publishers by purchasing a signed copy of the book from Book People. You can also purchase the first book from these retailers and Second Chances from these additional retailers.
The launch party will have a live reading by W. Stone Cotter, a Q&A hosted by author Britta Jensen and an opportunity for the audience to ask questions at the end of the party. We look forward to celebrating with you!
