Event description

Description

Second Chance – A Healthy Conversation is an informative forum hosted by the Fayette County NAACP.

The event will educate citizens, ex-felons, and ex-offenders in a non-judgmental atmosphere about the restoration of their rights (voting, employment, Ban-the-Box, records restriction/expungement, social services).

Attendees will also gain a better understanding of rights permanently denied under crimes of moral turpitude, the meaning of nolo contendere, and what resources and re-entry services are available to ex-felons and ex-offenders.

The format will consist of a guest speaker, a Clayton County Judge, and a panel of knowledgeable professionals who work with adults and juveniles in the area of criminal justice: Civil Rights/Criminal Defense Attorney, ACLU of Georgia Legal Director, Adult and Juvenile Parole Officers, Griffin Circuit District Attorney, Dept. of Juvenile Services Program Manager.

There will be Q&A where attendees can ask questions directly to panelists.

Three (3) community service hours will be awarded to forum participants who attend the full two hour session or longer. Community Service Certificates will be given to eligible participants immediately following the forum.
