Second Annual Sackler Speaks: Flash Talk Competition

Please join the Tufts Biomedical Business Club, Sackler Graduate Student Council and the Sackler Dean’s office on April 24th at 5pm for the second annual Sackler Speaks flash talk competition! Effective and concise scientific communication is a valuable and translatable skill that requires practice to master. Sackler Speaks is an opportunity for students to hone that skill and receive expert feedback while competing for cash prizes. In addition Sackler Graduate Student Council is teaming up with communication skills expert Lauren Garlick to offer presenters the opportunity to attend a workshop on effective communication on April 18th at 5pm in Sackler 812 in advance of Sackler Speaks, so please RSVP early.
Whether you plan to present or simply want to attend please join us for an evening of exciting science from Sackler graduate students across a wide range of research areas. Beer, wine and snacks will be served!

When: April 24th, 5pm
All Sackler graduate students are welcome to compete. If you would like to participate, please click here to submit a 300 word abstract that will appear in the program.
Presenters should arrive to Sackler 114 at 4:40PM on April 24 to make sure their slides are incorporated into the event's slideshow
Food and beverages will be provided throughout the event.
Flash talks will be 3 minutes, and you are welcome to use slides. We will have a timer on display, and will stop you if you go over time.
After your talk, we'll take one audience question.
The presentations will be broken up into several sessions with snack breaks in between.
Everyone in attendance will be invited to provide feedback, but the judges will choose the winners.
Your talks will be judged on clarity, presentation, and effectiveness in communicating your work to a broad audience.
The top three presentations will receive $200, $100 and $50.
