About Startup Weekend: Startup Weekends are 54-hour events designed to provide superior experiential education for technical and non-technical entrepreneurs.  Beginning with Friday night pitches and continuing through brainstorming, business plan development, and basic prototype creation, Startup Weekends culminate in Sunday night demos and presentations.  Participants create working startups during the event and are able to collaborate with like-minded individuals outside of their daily networks. All teams hear talks by industry leaders and receive valuable feedback from local entrepreneurials. The weekend is centered around action, innovation, and education.  Whether you are looking for feedback on a idea, a co-founder, specific skill sets, or a team to help you execute, Startup Weekends are the perfect environment in which to test your idea and take the first steps towards launching your own startup.

Startup Weekend

Startup Weekend is a global grassroots movement of active and empowered entrepreneurs who are learning the basics of founding startups and launching successful ventures. It is the largest community of passionate entrepreneurs with over a thousand past events in 110+ countries around the world.

The non-profit organization is located in Seattle, Washington but Startup Weekend organizers and facilitators can be found in cities around the world. From Mongolia to South Africa to London to Brazil, people around the globe are coming together for weekend long workshops to pitch ideas, form teams, and start companies.

All Startup Weekend events follow the same basic model: anyone is welcome to pitch their startup idea and receive feedback from their peers. Teams organically form around the top ideas (as determined by popular vote) and then it’s a 54 hour frenzy of business model creation, coding, designing, and market validation. The weekends culminate with presentations in front of local entrepreneurial leaders with another opportunity for critical feedback.

Dear Seattle Startup Weekenders,

We’re looking forward to kicking off the event next weekend but want to give you a heads up about a logistical challenge. Facebook is currently requiring everyone participating in Startup Weekend to sign an NDA when you arrive on Friday night at check-in. We sincerely apologize for any difficulties may cause for some individuals.

We’ve included a link to the NDA in this update so that you can look it over ahead of time. In order to make check-in as smooth as possible, please bring the signed NDA with you. We will also provide copies to sign at the event if that is more convenient for you.

If you no longer wish to attend the event for this reason, we will gladly refund your purchase. In order to receive a refund, please contact support@startupweekend.org and include your ticket confirmation.

We sincerely appreciate your understanding and welcome any questions or comments you may have.

Dear Seattle Startup Weekenders,

We’d first like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude for being amongst the first to register for the upcoming Seattle Startup Weekend event. Unfortunately, the primary reason we are reaching out is because we must inform you of a change of date. Due to an unforeseen conflict on the weekend of March 22-24, we have decided to move the event to a later date. The new date of this Startup Weekend is April 5th-7th.

We sincerely apologize for any difficulties this causes as we are well aware that you may have worked your schedule around this event. We hope that this change of date will be viewed positively as several people have also expressed interest in attending the UW Autism Hackathon, which will occur during the weekend of March 22-24.

Aside from the change in date, all other details of the event remain the same, including the venue, the judges, etc. We appreciate your interest in participating and although this change was a difficult decision, we felt it was necessary to support the harmony and growth of our local startup community.

If you no longer wish to attend the event for any reason, we will gladly refund your purchase. In order to receive a refund, please contact support@startupweekend.org and include your ticket confirmation.

We sincerely appreciate your understanding and welcome any questions or comments you may have.

Yours truly,
Seattle Startup Weekend Organizers
