Description

HELP YOUR CHILD LEARN COMPUTER SCIENCE

Join hundreds of children, parents, and tech industry volunteers in one of Seattle's biggest Hour of Code™ events! Give your child (or help a child get) an hour of Computer Science education.

YES ADMISSION IS FREE

Thanks to the generosity of Amazon.com providing the space, the efforts of Code.org and their partners to provide the lessons, and our volunteer teachers from throughout Seattle's tech industry, there is no charge for this event (though gifts and donations are appreciated).

Parking will not be free, but on-site parking will be deeply discounted. Of course, for traffic and the environment, we encourage all attendees to use public transportation.

We'll provide every kid who attends a place to sit and work, power to plug-in, WiFi to get online, and mentors to help them complete the lessons.

BRING YOUR OWN LAPTOP

We will not have equipment to loan. Many of the lessons can be done on a tablet with a keyboard, but a laptop with WiFi is preferred.

SOMETHING FOR ALL AGES AND SKILL LEVELS

We'll have selected lessons for everyone from beginning readers to high school students who think they know everything. Plus we'll have free "I Speak Geek" stickers and "Born to Code" temporary tattoos for everyone, hands-on demos with some of Amazon's coolest toy vendors, and a prize drawing!

The 'Hour of Code™' is a nationwide initiative by Computer Science Education Week and Code.org to introduce millions of students to one hour of computer science and computer programming.
