Season of Making: Winter Break Art Program
Overview
Warm up your imagination this winter at the New Bedford Art Museum’s Season of Making: Winter Break Art Program!
Program Details
- Dates: Monday, December 29, 2025 – Friday, January 2, 2026
- Hours: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- Ages: 6-12
- Tuition: $350 per student (for the full week, cheaper than child care!)
This full-day art experience invites young artists to spend the week exploring the magic of the season through hands-on artmaking. Students will experiment with a range of materials and create artwork they’ll be proud to bring home and share.
Each day begins with inspiring prompts and guided lessons led by the Museum’s professional teaching artists, followed by open studio exploration, creative games, and group activities. Participants will build confidence, make new friends, and develop artistic skills in a warm, welcoming environment designed to nurture imagination and creative growth.
Daily Prompts

Wednesday – Animals in the Cold: Which animals thrive in snow and ice? Create your own chilly creature or reimagine a winter habitat.
Thursday – Light in the Darkness: What brings light into your world? Create a glowing or reflective artwork inspired by warmth, hope, and joy.
Friday – New Beginnings: Look ahead to 2026 with imagination and positivity. Build a “vision board” filled with images and words that capture what you want to grow, learn, and create in the new year.
