About this event
Inviting the South Florida community to celebrate the work of teen environmental artists, final Sea the Reef Art Show and experience a series of fun activities on World Oceans Day to further promote ocean conservation.
Be part of a live art-advocacy project put on by our students and the unveiling of their "Reef Play House". Students and families are encouraged to attend, meet our environmental teen artists, learn about their creative journey and enjoy a morning of Lele Art Lab activities.
Immerse yourself in a captivating experience at our on-site coral sculpting workshop designed for individuals of all ages and abilities. Discover the artistry within you as you shape and mold coral structures, bringing your own creation to life.
Not only will you leave with a tangible reminder of your creativity, but you'll also have the opportunity to contribute to a magnificent coral aerial image, showcasing the collective efforts of our community.

SEA THE REEF ON WORLD OCEANS DAY
9:00AM - 10:30AM Community Coral Sculpting Workshop: A coral sculpting session with earth clay led by our environmental teen artists and Lele Art Lab
10:30AM: Coral Site Aerial Drone Photography: Join us for a remarkable event that will celebrate the importance of coral conservation and create a breathtaking aerial drone image that will leave a lasting impact. We will be capturing the magic of our community made - coral reef site from above. You'll have the opportunity to marvel at the collective beauty we've created together and take home your 3D coral sculptures.
11:00AM: "Sea the Reef" Art Installation: Unveiling of the "reef play house" made and assembled by our environmental teen artists to celebrate coral conservation. Our coral sites are vital ecosystems, supporting a diverse array of marine life and playing a crucial role in maintaining the health of our oceans. The interactive play house invites you to "SEA THE REEF"
Fun activities on site to extend a morning for the protection of our oceans.
6:30AM: Free Surf Lessons by Island Water Sports. Make sure to go on location, for a fun photo opportunity with a giant plastic wave.
8:00 AM: Student led beach cleanup
8:30 AM: Surfrider Foundation Paddle out
Join us for a powerful art experience that captivates all ages and teaches environmental conservation and sustainability.
About the educators:
Lele Art Lab is led by National Geographic certified educator, Alexa Simeone, specialized in creative media, visual design and education. She is the founder of South Florida’s first mobile art lab, converting beaches into classrooms and marine debris into art. Her work has been featured in Chasing Corals, a Netflix original documentary and recognized for introducing a diverse youth to ocean environments with an innovative approach to sustainable, environmental education.
Smoothie Vybe is led by Sam, permaculture educator and maker in residence at Lele Art Lab, introducing kids to urban farming and hydroponics. Leading the Garden lab experience for youth.
Surf Skate Science is led by educator duo Toni Frallicciardi and her husband Ulises Frallicciardi. Together they have built the fastest growing action sports program in South Florida and awarded Everglades Gold Seal of Education and numerous education awards, including a Stand Together Catalyst for 2023.
