Event description

Description

Hey! Come to Philip and make model rockets! Get orientation flights! Learn about sUAVs, what the rest of the world calls drones! Sleep under the stars of the Western American prairie! And it's free gratis (mostly)!

You'll need to bring a sleeping bag, a tent, your clothes, and some spending money for meals to and from beautiful Philip.

There will be free food and free small rockets during the event. If you want to build a larger rocket, you will have to pay a bit to defray the SDWG's costs unless we find a benefactor. Or, talk nice to your squadron commander to see if your squadron will pick up the costs.

You will be at the famous Philip International Airport, PHP. It has asphalt runways, portapotties, no traffic, and wide open spaces. Classes are held in the former Philip Composite Squadron HQ. You might want to also bring a fan as it is not air-conditioned.

If you are diligent, you might be able to earn your Cadet Rocketry Badge! Some Cadets in 2018 were able to do that.

We're also hoping--but not promising--to have the SDWG glider there for unpowered o-rides. More information on that later.

Seniors, this is also a lot of fun for you too, as you can help the Cadets make and launch rockets (and supervise launches), help with O-Rides, and other things that will make life easier for the organizers. Plus, hey, Philip!

Sign up as:

1. Cadet Participant

2. Senior Member Participant/Chaperone

3. Senior Member Van Driver (must have a CAP drivers license).

4. Senior Member O-Ride Pilot

PLEASE SIGN UP AS SOON AS YOU CAN SO THE ORGANIZERS CAN PURCHASE THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF FOOD AND SUPPLIES!
