Event description

Description

San Diego is home to more than 30,00 refugees, and an average of 20-100 asylum seekers arrive in San Diego each day.

Our upcoming grants cycle will provide basic needs and transition services for these members of our community. Attend our Annual Grants Kickoff to learn about the challenges they face and how we can make a difference.

Join us for a facilitated conversation with Voice of San Diego immigration reporter Maya Srikrishnan and Refugee Coordinator for San Diego County, Abdi Abdillahi about the journey and needs of these populations.

Maya Srikrishnan writes about the U.S.-Mexico border and immigration issues in San Diego County and recently traveled to meet with Hondurans and other Central Americans en route to the U.S.

Abdi Abdillahi has been working with refugees for more than 30 years since he first arrived in the U.S. as a refugee. He works to help refugee families achieve self-sufficiency through employment within the first 12 months after their arrival to the United States

We can make a difference. Join us to learn how.

SDWF members, their guests and anyone interested in learning more are invited to attend this critically engaging evening!

*Please note that, other than those who are SDWF members or considering membership, this event is not open to nonprofit staff*
