About this Event

Strategic Direction 2023 Focus: Health and Environment

Happy City uses the science of wellbeing to create healthier, happier and more inclusive communities.

In these inspiring talks, the Happy City team explores the ways in which the built  environment impacts wellbeing. Our team draws lessons from science, cities  around the world and our own participatory experiments.

This session will talk about the role of urban design in promoting feelings of safety  and economic and social development.    Drawing on brain science, psychology, and urban experiments, Tristan Cleveland  will demonstrate how urban planning and design influence how we feel, behave,  and treat other people. This evidence-based approach to urban wellbeing  represents a vision for cities that are happier, healthier and more inclusive by  design.

The way we design buildings, neighbourhoods and cities has a profound effect on health and happiness. We draw on a decade of research to make sense of that relationship. We offer evidence and examples to inspire designers, decision-makers and city-dwellers to embrace happy design. And we empower them to take action.

You will not want to miss this opportunity!

WHO SHOULD ATTEND:

All employees, citizens and stakeholders interested in building a happier Austin.
