Event description

Description

Acting for Adults (ages 18+ and High School Seniors)
All classes in this series meet on Mondays from 7 - 9:30 pm at The Plex Theatre at 390 South Avenue, Rochester 14620.

The 10 class series ...
This series of acting classes has been created to be successful independently of one another. Actors are encouraged to take those classes which match their individual schedule and goals as they either begin or continue their journey in the development of the craft of acting. Actors with all levels of experience are welcome - from beginners to veterans who may be looking to brush up techniques. The focus of the series is the understanding and improvement of fundamental skills, the development of confidence and self-awareness, and the creation of a professional work ethic. Each class is limited to 8 actors, affording each actor the opportunity to work.

The instructor ...
Although most known as a renowned coach for children and teens in musical theatre, voice and acting, Cara D'Emanuele is also a passionate class instructor and private coach for adult actors and singer/actors. Her no-nonsense, candid feedback coupled with a dynamic teaching style and terrific sense of humor make her a popular, trusted and well-respected mentor by stage and screen actors throughout the central and western New York region. She provides a supportive, non-competitive environment, a myriad of opportunities for discovery, and material that resonates with and showcases every actor. She inhabits the motivation actors need to not only dedicate themselves to the development of the craft but to follow through with assignments, attend auditions, and become organized as the manager of their own career.

Student Testimonial ...
Cara allows you to be yourself; in fact, she helps you celebrate what makes you unique. Her classes and private coachings have helped me to develop the confidence I need to be successful, especially in auditions. I have not only booked more paying projects including speaking roles in feature films but have learned to incorporate relaxation and concentration skills on set.

THIS MONTH'S CLASS ...

Monday May 13, 2019 7:00 - 9:30 pm
Script Analysis and Subtext
Subtext is a layer of storytelling that we as actors are responsible for conveying. As we work to strengthen our craft we need to develop an understanding of how to identify the unspoken thoughts and motives of characters. The subtext needs to be understood by the audience as the scene or play unfolds. During this class, actors will be guided in their exploration of script analysis as applied to scenes from plays and film.
