Event description

Description

The event features readings of six scenes from local playwrights read by professional actors on stage in front of a panel of three theatre professionals and the audience.

Each writer submits 5-10 pages of an unpublished work they want feedback on and one question they need answered. Those pages are given to the actors for a cold read. The writers are kept anonymous, to encourage fearlessness in their submissions and give a platform for previously unknown playwrights.

After each reading comes (loving) judgement! Each one of the three panelists gives their brief feedback. At the end of the night, each panelist picks one play segment to “adopt,” meaning that they’ll give a longer, written feedback to the playwright after the show. The audience then votes on an audience favorite, who receives the coveted prize of bragging rights. Also one free PBR.

There will be drinking games and chances to win free booze for the audience, as well. Come out and support new works while having a few drinks and laughs.

If you are interested in participating as a writer, panelist, or actor, email me at info at rkpendergrass dot com. For actors/panelists, shoot me an email with a little info about you and your headshot/resume (if applicable).

Writers, shoot me those pages! 5-10, doesn't have to even be a whole scene.

I'll be accepting on a rolling basis, but drop dead deadline is 12/16!
Money goes to venue, free booze and paying performers and the panel. Feel free to donate if you'd like to support more events like this one!
