Yale Professor Marc Lapadula is coming into town for the day, so take advantage of his expertise! Learn the tactics of writing and selling a feature-length screenplay. Participants will learn about plotting cinematic narrative, creating dimensional characters, writing compelling dialogue as well as the specific requirements of professional screenplay format. In-depth analysis, discussion, page excerpt readings and clips of the films CHINA SYNDROME and BLADE RUNNER will be covered as well as marketing strategies for selling your work. Join us for an afternoon of information, laughter, food, and fun! Near the end of class we’ll also have a 30 to 45 minute discussion and question and answer section.
Please watch the movies CHINA SYNDROME and BLADE RUNNER. If you don’t have time to watch the movies, it’s okay. They will only be two of several topics covered in the seminar. The day of class you will receive a course packet ($20 value and almost 200 pages) included in the cost of the course as well.
We promise you an afternoon of excellent information, laughter, food, and fun! Professor Marc Lapadula will be bringing some extra scripts with him in case anyone chooses to purchase some to add to their script collection. He will also be selling the professional screenwriting computer program Final Draft #8 at a steeply discounted student rate. This program formats your movie scripts, television episodes, and stageplays so that you don’t have to. Therefore if you think you may be interested in purchasing any of these items bring cash or check with you.
