Screenwriting for Low Budget Production
Saturday, June 23, 2012 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM (CDT)
So, in L.A., everyone has a screenplay for a multi-million budget movie …But at Tallgrass, we see movies with stories that feel like a million bucks (but cost a fraction of what Hollywood churns out). This seminar is not about writing a screenplay you can sell…. It’s about how to write a movie you can make.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN: How to write emotionally connected action around your uniquely available assets!
WHAT YOU WILL NEED: This will be a writing intensive lab! Attendees should have solid synopsis or outlines at the very least (or finished screenplays are welcome!) People should bring lap-tops or notebooks (with lots of writing utensils) and a huge stack of index cards.
Laura Lee Bahr is the award-winning screenwriter of indie features Jesus Freak and the little Death as well as the short UltraGirl. She has several screenplays currently in development with different independent production companies.
Her debut novel Haunt was published this past fall (available on Amazon! Buy it!) by Fungasm press, a division of Bizarro books. The anthology Demons, in which her short story, ‘Happy Hour’ is featured, is currently up for a Bram Stoker award.
