Event Information
About this Event
WELCOME TO OUR NEW CINEMA ARTS LECTURE SERIES!
This Masterclass with Professor Julian Hoxter will offer an introduction to movie storytelling. We will discuss the role of the screenwriter and the screenplay and we will take you through an easy to understand, but flexible and comprehensive model for feature film writing that applies both to mainstream and indie filmmaking alike. The class assumes you have never written a screenplay before, but will offer useful refresher advice if you have.
Julian Hoxter is an associate professor and the screenwriting coordinator at the School of Cinema, San Francisco State University. He has taught screenwriting and film history in the US and the UK for over twenty years. A produced screenwriter, he is a professional script consultant and his screenplays have won three competitions and have been finalists in many more. Professor Hoxter has published six books on screenwriting and cinema and media studies with publishers including University of California Press, Rutgers University Press, Palgrave MacMillan and Bloomsbury Academic.
This Masterclass is free thanks to the generosity of AVFS donors. Please consider making a contribution to support future programming by clicking here.
