Event description

Description

LEAD Public Schools is excited to host a public screening and discussion of Intelligent Lives, a film by Dan Habib. INTELLIGENT LIVES stars three pioneering young American adults with intellectual disabilities–Micah, Naieer, and Naomie–who challenge perceptions of intelligence as they navigate high school, college, and the workforce. Academy Award-winning actor and narrator Chris Cooper contextualizes the lives of these central characters through the emotional story of his son Jesse, as the film unpacks the shameful and ongoing track record of intelligence testing in the U.S. Stick around after the screening to speak with different community partners who work to specifically serve students with disabilities.

Community Partners include: MOVE Inclusive Dance, Lipscomb's IDEAL Program, Vocational Rehabilitation and Pre-ETS, Careers4U, Project Play Therapy, and more.

We are excited to offer a free dance class for students with disabilities led by MOVE Inclusive Dance during the screening. If you have a student with a disability and you'd like for them to participate in the dance class, please ensure you select the appropriate ticket for them upon registering. Be sure to register your student before Friday, September 27th.
