THE 400 BLOWS/LES 400 COUPS BY FRANCOIS TRUFFAUT
1959 - France - 93 min
In French with English subtitles
The Cultural Services of the French Embassy present the 1959 film The 400 Blows by François Truffaut.
Paris, late fifties. Antoine Doinel is a misunderstood adolescent that cannot do anything right. His parents and teachers have labelled him a troublemaker. His challenging home life and disciplinary issues at school lead to his repeated running away and eventually quitting school. He lands in a home for troubled youths where psychiatrists attempt to understand his behavior. This classic, inspired by Truffaut's own childhood, is recognized as one of the major films of the French New Wave.
Online registration is required for this screening.
