Event description

Description

Please join CBE Refugee Task Force for a screening of Syria's Disappeared, a documentary about the hidden story of tens of thousands of men, women and children disappeared by the regime of President Bashar al Assad into a network of clandestine detention centres.

The film weaves together the powerful personal stories of three Syrians with evidence gathered from regime documentation smuggled out of Syria.

With unprecedented access, the film follows survivors of detention, families of detainees, regime defectors and international war crimes investigators as they fight to bring the perpetrators to justice and desperately campaign for the release of the disappeared.

After the screening, there will be a Q&A with Qutaiba Idlbi, Researcher at the Global Policy Institute and a Senior Consultant with Pechter Polls specializing in aid and security in the Middle East with a focus on Syria.

A native of Damascus, Qutaiba was in Syria at the outbreak of protests in March 2011, and was detained twice by Syrian internal security services and forced to leave the country.
