Event description

Description

Climate Action Hobart are delighted to announce that we will be screening the French film 'Tomorrow’ (known as ‘Demain’ in France). Launched in December 2015, it has been watched by over 1.5 million people in France alone, and won ‘Best Documentary’ at the Cesar Awards (the French Oscars).

Faced with a future that scientists say is a great cause for concern, the film has the distinction of not giving in to catastrophism. The film presents that showing solutions, telling a feel-good story… may be the best way to solve the ecological, economical and social crises in the world. Cyril Dion and Mélanie Laurent, together with a team of four people, carry out an investigation to figure out what may lead to this disaster and above all how to avoid it.During their journey, they met the pioneers who are re-inventing agriculture, energy, economy, democracy and education. Joining those concrete and positive actions which are already working, they began to figure out what could be tomorrow's world…

'So far, no other documentary has gone down such an optimistic road... Tomorrow is not just a film, it is the beginning of a movement seeking to encourage local communities around the world to change the way they live for the sake of our planet.' Rotten Tomatoes 2017

* Please be aware that the film will run for 2 hours, so you may want to sample some of the marvellous refreshments on offer at Mona prior to or directly after the screening. It is also in French and English with English subtitles.
