Inocente Izucar is a California-based artist featured in the documentary of the same name. From a young age, she experienced the uncertainy of being undocumented, as well as the stresses of long-term homelessness and domestic violence. A Reason To Survive (ARTS) is where art became her refuge and her hope.
Matt D'Arrigo is the founder and CEO of A Reason To Survive (ARTS). An artist from a young age, he used the arts to change his own life trajectory away from self destructive behaviors and to pull himself through the illness of his sister and subsequent death of his mother. He was inspired to make it his life's work to use the arts to transform the lives of children and youth facing their own struggles.
