Event description

Description

On the evening of April 24th, 1915, later known as Red Sunday, Armenian intellectuals and community members were rounded up by Ottoman officials to be deported and executed, heralding the beginning of one the first genocides of the 20th century.

Today, people around the world commemorate the Armenian Genocide on April 24th every year, honoring the 1.5 million Armenians who were systematically murdered by those who would later inspire Adolf Hitler.

Savannah residents and community members are invited to a free screening of "Intent to Destroy," a powerful documentary that chronicles the disturbing history of Armenian Genocide denial in Turkey and by the American government. The screening will be followed by a discussion.
