About this Event

Introducing Awareness of Behavioral Health: How to integrate SBIRT Screening into Comprehensive Care

 6 hour in Person-CEU Training and Skill Development

With the opioid epidemic and growing rates of depression and suicide, there is a general acceptance for the need to more fully address substance use as well as mental health in a comprehensive practice. This session will introduce participants to screens for substance use and educate the audience on the low risk drinking guidelines. It will also address how to implement them into a more integrated approach to medical care. There will be a focus on all the elements of SBIRT services. In addition, we will discuss barriers to screening and intervention as well as improving referral mechanisms to ensure continuity of care of our patients.

OBJECTIVES

• Identify the role of healthcare providers in identification of risky or harmful substance use

• Be able to describe why SBIRT is part of a public health approach to addressing substance use.
