"Not Your Average Citizen" a new documentary film in process, produced and directed by Lucy Slavinsky, a New England resident and Russian emigree, chronicles the life and times of Kennedy-like Russian politician Boris Nemtsov, who risked his life to make a difference.
The death of Boris Nemtsov, the preeminent critic of President Vladimir Putin, came filled with eerie symbolism: he was gunned down on a winter night in the shadow of the Kremlin. Putin’s spokesman dismissed the slain opposition leader as “little more than the average citizen”. But the regime knew Nemtsov was a lot more than average, and this documentary shows a statesman on the level of Jefferson or Adams, sadly unappreciated by his country and peers. He had the brains and the looks, the charisma and the ability to attain power and make a fortune: all he had to do was sacrifice his inner freedom and sense of integrity. That, he never did.
In addition to Ms. Slavinsky, another featured guest will be Vasily Gatov, a Russian journalist, analyst, and media investment expert, the former General Director of Russia's Innovation Center "New Media" RIA News, a Senior Fellow at USC Annenberg Center. In a recently taped presentation, he will provide a brief analysis of the political processes in Russia.
