Description

Thursday, November 30, “Screenagers: Growing Up in the Digital Age”, Two showings – 9 AM at Brandybrook Community Center and 6:00 PM resource fair & 6:30 PM film at KMHS Auditorium. There is no denying our lives are filled with the use of digital devices. Schools have incorporated them in education and students must learn about technology in preparation for the work place. An average kid spends 6.5 hours a day looking at screens. How is the time spent on the screens influencing children’s and teens’ lives in homes and schools? In SCREENAGERS, physician, and filmmaker Delaney Ruston takes a deeply personal approach as she probes into the vulnerable corners of family life, including her own, to explore struggles over social media, video games, academics and internet addiction. Through poignant, and unexpectedly funny stories, along with surprising insights from authors, psychologists, and brain scientists, SCREENAGERS reveals how tech time impacts kids’ development and offers solutions on how adults can empower kids to best navigate the digital world and find balance. Adiscuss will follow the 90 minute documentary to help your family create this balance. A parent resource expo will also be held at 6:00 PM prior to the evening showing. This event is being sponsored by Gals Institute LLC in Delafield and the KM Parent Resource Network. View a trail of the film at https://vimeo.com/215750447.
