About this event

Join us at Bicester Heritage for our iconic October Scramble open day, a chance to live, breathe and experience historic motoring at its best.

Explore the best-preserved WW2 RAF Bomber Station in the country, and visit the 45 industry-leading specialist businesses based in our restored historic buildings, while enjoying a few surprises along the way. Our October Scramble promises a curated display of classic cars along the tree-lined avenues of our time-warp base.

Family and dog friendly, the Scramble is a wonderful way to while away the weekend hours in the company of some spectacular machines, in a COVID-compliant setting.

PLEASE NOTE:

Passes for this event are per person (not per car) and are only available in advance. They will not be available to purchase at the gate on the day. Please book early to avoid disappointment.

The purchase price for each Pass includes a 50p donation towards Starter Motor, a Bicester Heritage based charity with the sole intention of putting young enthusiasts in the driving seat. To find out more please visit www.startermotor.co.

Children under 16 years of age may attend free of charge, but still require a Pass (including babies and toddlers).

Well behaved dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead at all times.

Parking for all visitors including pre-1990 vehicles will be around the outskirts of our airfield.

The Bicester Heritage ‘Technical Site’ will contain a curated collection of display cars set by the Bicester Heritage specialist businesses. Unless invited to display, please do not arrive early as you will not have access to the Technical Site.

Due to limited capacity and our new Scramble format, specific car club displays will not be taking place.

This event is outdoors! Please dress appropriately in warm clothes with shoes suitable for exploring our site.

COVID COMPLIANCE:

This event has been designed to be COVID compliant and set outdoors within plenty of space.

Organiser Bicester Heritage

Organiser of Scramble!

Bicester Heritage is creating a revolution in historic vehicle ownership. The unique location is the UK’s only hub for historic motoring excellence and is the national centre for a £5.5bn per annum industry that employs over 34,000 skilled people. As an events destination, it is truly unlike any other place in the country.

Founded in 2013 Bicester Heritage has gone from a standing start to a home for over 40 specialist businesses, and growing, with a collective turnover of over £40m, making it the largest player in the industry and set to grow exponentially with a global reach. The unique ecosystem of businesses based at a beautiful 444 acre former WW2 RAF Bomber Training Station acts as ‘marina-like’ cluster, promoting skills and expertise, employment, qualified customer footfall, shared business incubation and aggregate growth. Collectively, Bicester Heritage is all about driving the future of the past.

The former RAF Bicester site on which Bicester Heritage is now based is of national historic importance. Neglected for the best part of 40 years, it was added to Historic England’s ‘At Risk Register’ in 2008 and designated the most 'at risk' of all Defence Estates in the UK. Since Bicester Heritage’s tenure, over 93% of the buildings have been delicately restored or re-activated for modern business use and occupation, with the site now held as a national exemplar of constructive conservation by Historic England. The time-warp base is truly unmatched in evocative character, with even the paint colours being correct to 1930s British Standards. An active airfield and test track complete it’s dynamic operation.

The location of Bicester Motion, of which Bicester Heritage is an established component, is key. Bicester is one of the fastest growing towns in Europe with unrivaled connections via road, rail and air, situated in close proximity to the globally known City of Oxford and within 90 minutes of upwards of 30 million people.

With bold plans for the next five years, Bicester Motion intends on creating the UK’s principal destination for anyone who wants to experience motorcars from all eras, including the future.
