Don't know what Summit is?

Summit is a one-day conference that features a wide variety of speakers, activities, and entertainment. It is held at the university campus of an active SCPASA member organization and this year it will be hosted by University of California, Irvine's Alyansa ng mga Kababayan.

Numerous workshops are held throughout the day to give attendees various opportunities to learn about topics around a common theme chosen for that year.

This year's SCPASA summit theme is Kapwa which is one of the core Pilipinx values that emphasizes the concept of "togetherness". The idea of togetherness is rooted within the identity of the Pilipinx people as it is crucial to the development of the concept of "tao" or person.

Kapwa is a concept tied to the holistic view of the world, that we are all a shared self. It is a mindset which shifts the perception of the “I” into a realization of the “We”. It enables the idea of the “tao” or people as everyone is seen as one collective, as opposed to an-other. As a Pilipinx community, we are a reflection and a product of our people’s collective power. We are the result of our people’s united struggle and our familial community.

Kapwa is the theme we chose to convey our determination in organizing and fostering a collective community of Pilipinx -/ Americans. It is an ideology we hope will empower the youth to unite under a commonality; being Pilipinx -/ American.

What you put into this space is what you will get out of it.
So please save the date and spread the word!
