Scoring ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ & ‘Loki’ with Natalie Holt, moderated by Byron Burton

Emmy and BAFTA-nominated composer Natalie Holt takes audiences through the complexities of scoring for massive franchise properties. From the expressive freedom of scoring LOKI – for which her score earned two 2022 Emmy nominations for “Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music” and “Outstanding Music Composition for a Series”, to the distinct pallet of the Star Wars universe in OBI-WAN KENOBI, each proved to be a challenge to find the musical voice needed for each project. Audiences will take away information about the demo process for Marvel Studios and tips on how to make your musical voice stand out, as well as practices on how to adapt well-known themes and make them sound fresh for modern audiences.

Natalie Holt is a multi-award-winning British composer, known for her two-time Emmy-nominated score for Marvel Studios’ Loki and the acclaimed Lucasfilm series Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Her film and television credits include the BAFTA Award-winning series Wallander (BBC), Knightfall (History Channel), the BAFTA Award-winning series Three Girls (BBC), mini-series Deadwater Fell, the Emmy Award-nominated series The Honourable Woman (HBO Max), Victoria (PBS), Saul Dibb’s World War I feature Journey's End, Netflix/Claudia Llosa’s drama feature Fever Dream, and Fox’s female super hero feature The Princess, to name just a few. Upcoming projects include DC’s Batgirl.

Natalie’s numerous awards nominations and wins include the Primetime Emmy Awards, World Soundtrack Awards’ “Television Composer of the Year”, BAFTA, SCL Awards, the Royal Television Society Craft and Design Award, the HMMAs, and “Best International Score” at the Beijing International Film Festival.

Byron Burton is a patent holding writer, public speaker, and a National Arts and Entertainment Journalism Award winner for his work at The Hollywood Reporter. Having worked with every major studio and streamer as a panel moderator and host, the Kentucky-born journalist runs Awards Focus with Oscar winning editor John Ottman for premiere Emmy and Oscar coverage
