Science as Art -- Chicago Science Festival 2017
Event Information
Description
Illinois Science Council invites you to the opening event of our third annual Chicago Science Festival — a celebration of the wow-inspiring, mind-expanding, human-benefitting awesomeness that is STEM (science, technology, engineering & math) in the Chicago area.
Science As Art is an exhibit and reception will feature award-winning scientific images from the National Science Foundation's Visualization Challenge and Northwestern University's Scientific Image Contest, and the University of Chicago. Mingle with local scientists who will explain the science research behind the science art over drinks and snacks. The reception is free and open to the public but requires advance registration. Thanks to our partner Xfinity for hosting this event.
The Chicago Science Fest continues Saturday, May 20th at the Merchandise Mart with a day full of exciting science talks and interactive demonstrations for people like you! Learn from area scientists about the science behind marijuana, the present and future of prosthetics, why dirt is good for you (and your microbiome), how sleep affects memory, your brain's "connectome," and much more! Between talks, you can visit demonstration tables where you will be able to view the first ever public demonstration of the Oleo Sponge, learn about solar panels, or taste edible insects. You can even test-drive some of today’s hottest electric cars outside in the Merchandise Mart driveway! For full details, visit ChicagoScienceFest.org.
