Science and Subjectivity
Science and Subjectivity: The Out-of-Body Experience and its Effects
Presentation by Luis Minero, International Academy of Consciousness
Thursday, April 6, 2017 | 6 PM - 8 PM | FIU Modesto A. Maidique Campus | PG5 Room 155
This lecture will present some of the current efforts undertaken to study spiritual and paranormal phenomena in a direct and realistic fashion, incorporating many of the personal benefits reported by various schools of thought and individuals when having out-of-body experiences (OBEs) and near-death experiences (NDEs). Measuring subjective phenomena and understanding their mechanisms is a challenge for conventional science; however, these phenomena produce very real and beneficial effects.
Some of the main topics to be covered will be:
- What are the benefits and spiritual effects reported from OBEs
- How does current science understand OBEs and NDEs
- Measuring subjective accounts
- Overcoming the fear of death and giving meaning to life
- Results of a study into OBEs
An interesting aspect of several paranormal phenomena is that one can learn to induce them through concentration and the development of our own skills. Upon attaining these phenomena, the individual can enjoy many of the personal benefits, which have been studied and reported throughout many different cultures. In turn, these direct, first-hand experiences give a different perspective into spiritual realities, which allow us to have a better-rounded viewpoint.
Luis Minero is an alumnus of FIU, having graduated cum laude in Chemistry in 1997. He is also the president of the IAC (International Academy of Consciousness) and the author of the book Demystifying the Out-of-Body Experience.
