Schoolyard Biodiversity using Photo Point Monitoring
Sat, March 25, 2017, 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM PDT
Have you always wanted to utilize your school grounds for outdoor learning, but aren’t sure where to start?
Would you like to explore how to incorporate technology into field experiences?
Join Karen Lippy for a workshop experience where participants will learn multiple ways to map, measure and monitor schoolyards while integrating core content and standards. The schoolyard and Outdoor Learning Center at West Hills STEM Academy will be used to model the process while focusing on invasive species. Mentored working time will enable participants to plan during the workshop. Collaborative teams are encouraged to attend.
Participants will receive a copy of PEI’s Guides Schoolyard Biodiversity Investigation Educator Guide and Photo Point Monitoring: Using Technology in Field Investigations to Monitor Changes Over Time
Your participation will be rewarded with 6 Washington State Approved STEM Clock Hours and the opportunity to earn a $100 Implementation Stipend (details provided at the workshop).
