Description

Professional Development Lecture

Speaker: Sarah Wheeler, PhD, LEP

Target Audience: Educators and School Based Mental Health Providers

Children with ADHD present a number of challenges to schools and teachers, but with the right supports, children with ADHD can thrive in these settings. In this workshop, you will learn about the essential research-based supports for children with ADHD in the classroom, examine these strategies in real-life scenarios, and gain practical tools for implementing new interventions right away with children. This workshop is for general and special education teachers, school administration and other staff, counselors and therapists both in school and private settings, and parents who would like a better picture of what the ideal classroom is like for their child with ADHD.

Sarah Wheeler, PhD, is a Licensed Educational Psychologist and School Psychologist, and received her doctorate from UC Berkeley. In addition to running a private assessment, counseling, and consultation practice, she is an Instructor at the Bay Area Teacher Training Institute and a counselor at the Raskob School in Oakland. Sarah worked for several years as a special education teacher in Los Angeles and has over 10 years of experience working with children with special needs and their families.
