School of the Forge
Overview
The School of Forge – 4-Week Skill-Building Series
The School of Forge is different from our usual project-based classes. This 4-week series focuses on developing strong foundational blacksmithing skills. It’s designed for students who have taken our classes before and want to grow further, as well as those who work at home on their own forge and are ready to advance their abilities.
Each Thursday, students will focus on building core blacksmithing techniques. They will strengthen their hammer control, learn to move metal more efficiently, and gain a deeper understanding of tools and equipment. Along the way, students will also build confidence, develop problem-solving skills, and experience meaningful personal growth. Working in a shared shop environment naturally encourages communication, patience, resilience, and teamwork—skills that matter both inside and outside the forge.
Throughout the series, students will practice forging tapers, creating scrolls, bending and twisting metal, forming rivets, and upsetting stock.
This class is an excellent next step for young smiths who are ready to improve their craftsmanship, deepen their understanding of blacksmithing, and grow as individuals.
