World Music Hand Percussion Technique ~ a special offering with Brian Melick

Mondays Sept 18 - Nov 20, 2023

11AM - 12PM at Caffe Lena (ADA accessible)

All levels and abilities are welcome! No experience necessary for this exploration of percussion from all over the world. Experience using your hands in all different ways to feel and hear the different voices available through simple techniques. Bring your own drum : conga, bongo, doumbek, djembe, frame drums, all types welcome! Brian will also be bringing drums to try.

This ten week class will teach: Body posture, how to hold a drum, hand technique, stretches for hand care, rhythms, polyrhythms and more bringing sounds and textures alive with friends!

Brian Melick brings a profound level of knowledge, expertise and passion for educating people about percussion. A sought after recording and performing artist, Brian has been featured on over 400 recordings for indie and commercial productions. He teaches extensively, with gift for reaching toddlers to seniors and everyone in between. Brian is one of the most expressive and sought after percussionists in the region.
