About this event

THERE’S A MOUSE IN MY HOUSE!

The mice have arrived, and they’re ready for a STORY!

This rodent-riddled workshop uses craft, puppetry, and storytelling to create an hour and a half of zoomtastic family fun. Storyteller Jill Webster will guide you towards building a mouse character to use in a storytelling performance. Simple materials found in most homes will be brought to life in this instant Zoom Puppet Show.

Materials required:

  • A piece of paper, (recycled paper, A4 paper, a paper bag, any will do)
  • Scissors
  • Sticky tape (cellotape, masking tape, any kind of tape for paper)
  • Something to draw a circle shape with (e.g. a dish or bowl, or a compass)
  • A pen or pencil

Technology required: a way of connecting to Zoom (meeting code and information will be supplied on booking)

Ages: family audiences - younger children will need help with craft activities, and supervision is required for cutting with scissors.

About Jill Webster: Jill shares her love of story with children and adults through dynamic, theatrical performances and hands-on workshops. She can tell tall tales on stilts at festivals, or tiny tales with puppets. She enjoys bringing the magic of story into classrooms and cafes, theatres and libraries, and sharing the joy with audiences big or small.

Jill told stories throughout Scotland with Monsters and Mayhem theatre company and now uses her storytelling, puppetry and stilt-walking skills with Story Bubble in New South Wales.

Organizer Hawkesbury Regional Museum

Organizer of School Holidays: Storytelling & craft - There's a mouse in my house!

Hawkesbury Regional Museum is located in one of our country’s oldest settlements—the third on mainland Australia after Sydney and Parramatta. Here you can see things you won’t find anywhere else, from the celestial globe that belonged to John Tebbutt, an internationally-renowned astronomer who lived his whole life in the Hawkesbury, to the diary kept by a member of HMAS Hawkesbury during World War II and recording the Japanese surrender. Not to mention that uniquely Hawkesbury creation, the flabbit.
