The DC Department of Insurance, Securities & Banking (DISB) has you covered. Join DISB for a three series event aimed at helping prospective college students and their parents prepare for college and navigate the application process during Hispanic Heritage Month. Topics include completing college applications, finding scholarships and applying for financial aid.

Scholarships, Financial Aid and Admissions: A Higher Education Series During Hispanic Heritage Month

In-Person: The Catholic University of America, O’Connell Hall, 597-599 Michigan Avenue NE, Washington, DC 20064

Virtual: Zoom link to be sent via email after registration.

Registration is Free!

Three sessions will be held on the following dates:

Tuesday, October 4th, 4:00pm to 6:30pm

Workshop Topic: “What is FAFSA? Why do I need it?”

Tuesday, October 11th, 4:00pm to 6:30pm

Workshop Topic: “What college can/should I attend? How do I get a scholarship? If I am dreamer, how do I qualify for financial aid?”

Tuesday, October 18th, 4:00pm to 6:30pm

Workshop Topic: "Scholarship and Financial Aid Community Forum "

Learn from student success stories and educational counselors on the best ways to pay for college while minimizing loans and debt.

Agenda (All 3 Sessions):

  • 4:00-4:30pm - Check-In (For in-person attendees participating in One-on-One Counseling)
  • 4:30-5:30pm - One-on-One Counseling (For in-person attendees only)
  • 5:30-6:30pm - Workshop (In-person and Virtual)

Please note: Check-in for the individual counseling appointments in-person will begin at 4 p.m. with counseling taking place between 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Bring your financial aid or admissions documents, and a counselor will provide an individual review. The in-person and virtual workshop will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Bi-lingual counselors will be available.
