Event description
Schedule a viewing appointment for SFCB's Fall/Winter 2020 exhibition!

About this Event

We're excited to announce that timed entry appointments are now available for SFCB's current exhibition POETRY IS NOT A LUXURY. At this time, viewing appointments are only available on Tuesdays. Appointments begin November 3rd and run through December 15, 2020.

Organized by the Center for Book Arts in New York and curated by Maymanah Farhat, POETRY IS NOT A LUXURY considers how book arts have contributed to the recording of oppositional subjectivities in the U.S. The exhibition is titled after Audre Lorde’s 1977 essay on the intersections of creativity and activism that were not only essential to her own work but to a diverse group of feminist thinkers at the time.

Please take a moment to read all details below in regards to visiting SFCB's gallery; full details (including SFCB's Health and Safety Plan as per the city and county of San Francisco) can be found at our website.

  • All timed entry appointments to SFCB’s exhibition gallery must be arranged in advance through Eventbrite; walk up / drop in appointments are not allowed at this time. Patrons are required to check in with a staff member when they arrive and sign in at the time of arrival in order to confirm their ticketed appointment.

  • Upon arrival, scheduled visitors will be checked in, verbally instructed in social distance protocols while onsite, and directed to SFCB’s gallery / studio space. Scheduled visitors will be kept moving through the exhibition space and the facility at all times; if needed, SFCB staff will remind patrons to socially distance from each other and SFCB staff.
  • Timed entry for a limited number of patrons to our exhibition space ensures that social distancing protocols are maintained.
