The Schaumburg Institute for Literacy Enrichment is committed to supporting and accelerating the language and literacy development of students in grades K - 8. Located on the Schaumburg campus of Roosevelt University, the Institute offers Saturday and summer courses that provide diverse learners with enriching and challenging opportunities to learn new skills and strategies, make friends, and deepen their commitment to reading and writing.
Winter Session: Jan. 25 – March 15, 2014
SILE 002: Literacy Enhancement
This Saturday class is for K – 8 students who need additional support, motivation, and knowledge to read and write at or slightly above grade level. Our highly individualized program focuses on age- and grade-appropriate literature, and organizes students to acquire fluency and strategies with reading, writing, listening and speaking. Enrollment is limited to 20 students. The tuition for this course is $280.
Criteria for SILE 002: Literacy Enhancement Registration
Since this course focuses on the development of skills and strategies, we do not require test scores or recommendation letters. However, parents must complete the on-line registration and ensure that the information provided is current and accurate.
- Each class will be held on Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. (8:30 a.m. welcome on Saturday, January 25 only)
- Classes begin January 25, 2014 and end on March 15, 2014 (8 weeks).
- The deadline for registration is January 25, 2014 at 9:00 a.m.

The teachers are all certified teachers who have at least two or more years of teaching experience and advanced degrees or certification in reading.
