Description

The Scarborough Civic Action Network (SCAN) Community Summit 2019 will bring together Scarborough residents, community leaders, and community-serving agency staff to create SCAN's 2019-20 action mandate based on our annual survey across Scarborough that identifies civic priorities to create a livable, prosperous Scarborough for all. In addition, SCAN will also be sharing its new governance model with the public.

For 2019, over 1100 residents across Scarborough completed SCAN’s survey to identify the following top three civic priorities: housing, safety and transit.

At this year's Community Summit, the Action Planning Breakout Sessions will include experts starting the conversations with short presentations.

Housing: Sean Meagher of ConveneTO will provide an overview of the state of housing affordability and an array of pathways to address issues of housing affordability.

Transit: Shelagh Pizey-Allen of TTCriders will provide an overview of the state of transit affordability with a focus on lower income groups and share a broad range of solutions to address this issue.

Safety: Thipika Balakrishnan from the City of Toronto’s Community Crisis Response Program will provide an overview of issues related to safety in Scarborough and an array of pathways to address the roots of violence and conflict in underserved communities.

Take part in these brainstorming and planning conversations and shape SCAN's 2019-2020 Action Mandate!
