Youth Mental Health First Aid

What to expect?

There is a two hour online self-paced course covering the In this MANDATORY prerequisite session, you will focus on an introduction to Mental Health First Aid including signs and symptoms in the context of feelings, behaviors, thoughts and appearances. You will be sent a link and login information two weeks prior to the live event and you may complete it on your own schedule. This introduction course MUST BE COMPLETED BEFORE ATTENDING THE LIVE SESSION.

There is a six hour interactive, instructor-led training via Zoom available on the date of your choice. This section of the course focuses on skill development, application, and self care. You will receive a participant processing guide and manual as well as a three year nationally recognized mental health first aid certification. Class size is limited to a maximum of 30 participants to ensure engagement with all attendees.

Participants will go through a 5-step action plan encompassing the skills, resources, and knowledge to help an individual in crisis connect with appropriate professional, peer, social and self-help care. After completion of the entire course, each participant will be certified as a Mental Health First Aider with the National Council of Behavioral Health.
