Our Charity Partners for This Event Are...
The PACE Center for Girls
The PACE Center for girls helps girls 12 to 17 years of age that have several challenges facing their success. The things they are doing for the future of our society are amazing. The girls attend PACE to get appropriate counseling and education in a nurturing environment so that they can overcome the odds to succeeding after foster care, substance abuse (by girl or family member), domestic violence, incarceration of a family member, neglect, physical/emotional/sexual abuse, grief, emotional health concerns, low income, and more. To qualify for this program, the participant will have encountered 4 or more of the above obstacles.
Think about these statistics…
82% of our girls were failing one or more classes prior to coming to PACE
38% of our girls had a prior arrest before coming to PACE
13% of our girls used drugs and alcohol prior coming to PACE
93% had no involvement with Juvenile Justice within a year of leaving PACE!
84% were in school or employed three years after leaving PACE!
Savor the City invites these girls to join us in planning and executing the events to teach them business, customer service, planning, hospitality and administration skills. We are dedicated to creating leaders for the future of our city and our country and the youth of today needs that help and encouragement.
Savor the City will be donating items from Pace's current needs with the money collected during the event through food tickets, Care Package giveaways and donations.
Blanket Tampa Bay
Blanket Tampa Bay collects and then donates blankets to Tampa's Homeless. They collect items that change with the seasons. During the winter we collect Blankets, hats, gloves, and mufflers.
During the spring and summer they collect rain gear consisting of ponchos, umberllas, socks, and hygeine products and of course blankets. Their first year they received over 300 blankets from Georgia, Wisconsin, and Arizona. From friends, relatives, churches, offices, businesses and people who just heard about them and wanted to help. In 2015 they collected over 800 in their winter drive.
Savor the City will be donating items from their current needs with the money collected during the event through food tickets, giveaways, donations and entertainment.
No Kid Hungry Tampa Bay
The No Kid Hungry campaign is a national campaign with a local presence. It connects kids in need with nutritious food and teaches their families how to cook healthy, affordable meals. Some of the children in our community receive free breakfast and lunch while in school. What happens when they go home for the weekend and winter break? The answer is simple, but saddening… They get junk food or worse let go hungry.
Through the work of No Kid Hungry and its partner’s, children and their families are being educated on nutrition, taught how to cook meals that stretch their food budget while providing healthy consistent meals at home.
Savor the City and our event partners believe that no one should be hungry especially our future leaders. When we give our gifts they are received with a heavy heart and an empty stomach. Not everyone has money to give, but with these kids training, education and support might just produce the next executive chef at your favorite restaurant.
