Event description
Frank, informative discussion on what all of us can do to identify adolescents and young adults at risk of suicide and provide help.

About this Event

The figures on suicide are alarming, among youth as well as every other age group.

In Michigan, suicide among adolescents and teens has nearly doubled in the past decade, surpassing the increase nationally. Yet, Michigan remains one of only 17 states without mandated teaching training in suicide prevention.

Detroit Public Television – in collaboration with the Children’s Foundation and Kevin’s Song – is launching a major campaign to bring attention to this urgent issue and to rally support among those in the lives of youth who can help combat this mental health crisis.

“Saving Lives: Preventing Youth Suicide” will feature a crucial conversation with educators, researchers, counselors and other experts in the field, who will be participate in a panel moderated by Cynthia Canty, host of “Stateside” on Michigan Radio.

Join us at the Riley Broadcast Studio in Wixom on Saturday, December 7 at 10:30am ET.

This discussion will be taped live and turned into a broadcast special on Detroit Public TV on December 30.
