About this Event

Four skills that can save a life

Our Emergency Department & Trauma team of physicians, nurses, and residents has been hosting “Stop the Bleed” events in local schools in Great Neck, Manhasset, and Port Washington to teach how to properly respond to uncontrolled bleeding. Since March of 2018, we have trained over 4,800 members of the Nassau County community in “BCON”.

Now, our team is looking to partner with your school to train on the following life saving techniques:

• Naloxone Nasal Spray

Naloxone Nasal Spray can reduce the effects of an opioid overdose in an emergency situation. Learn how to use Naloxone Nasal Spray!

• CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)

According to the American Heart Association, 350,000 cardiac arrests occur in the U.S. outside a hospital. If more people knew CPR, more lives could be saved. Take the opportunity to learn CPR and you could save a life

• AED – Defibrillator

If someone’s heart suddenly stops, a defibrillator may restore their heart beat. Follow an AED demonstration and try using it yourself!

• Stop the Bleed/BCON (Bleeding Control)

Knowing how to properly respond to open wounds can prevent or stall large blood loss until first responders arrive. Learn how to stop bleeds and prevent the dangers of blood loss!

Follow guided demonstrations and learn how to use each device or technique to help people in emergency situations. You can make a difference in your community with the knowledge you gain from this event.

Disclaimer: The trainings from this event do not replace formal certification. You will not receive certifications for any of the stations.
