The City of Whittlesea and Mirvac in partnership with the Victorian Planning Authority are pleased to present

Putting People First: Collaborative Social Planning on the Urban Fringe

Building healthy, strong and connected communities in the context of rapid population growth on the urban fringe, is a complex and challenging task. It requires a collaborative approach to planning and investment across a number of stakeholders and sectors.

The Growth Area Social Planning Tool (GASPT) developed in partnership with key Victorian Stakeholders from the public and private sectors, outlines processes and provides resources to guide such a collaborative social planning approach for new communities.

In late 2017, the Victorian Minister for Suburban Development launched the first practical commitment to the Tool between the City of Whittlesea and Mirvac, at the Olivine development in Donnybrook.

This forum will inform, inspire and encourage dialogue and innovative thinking amoung participants on

How to build healthy, strong and connected communities on the urban fringe?

Australia's foremost social researcher Hugh MacKay AO will headline the forum and help us to re-imagine a more enlightened way forward within our communities.

Other key elements of the forum will:

  • Showcase the GASPT/Olivine Pilot alongside other models of good social planning practice

  • Explore practical examples of community development and community engagement

  • Explore social outcomes measurements

  • And more.....

Who should attend?

  • Strategic, social and community infrastructure planners from local and state governments

  • Community development professionals

  • Developers

  • Respresentatives from health and human service organisations
