New York State Thoracic Society 2017 Annual Scientific Assembly
The Scientific Assembly which the Society holds each year is regarded as one of the premier educational events of the year for those working in or close to the thoracic/respiratory field. Nationally known speakers covering a wide range of topics as well as case studies assembled by members that enable attendees to upgrade their knowledge in a forum which allows for discussion at a level not usually found in many conferences. This has also proven to be an opportunity for attendees to interact with colleagues away from the demands of their practices/work settings.
The New York State Thoracic Society (NYSTS) is a State Chapter of the American Thoracic Society. Formerly called the New York State Trudeau Society, NYSTS is named after Edward Livingston Trudeau (1845-1915) for whom a lectureship at this annual meeting is named. The first American Investigator to culture the tubercle bacillus, the causative agent for tuberculosis, he founded Adirondack Cottage Sanitarium at Saranac Lake, NY in 1884 based on his own open air cure of tuberculosis.
