Description

The Africa Health Agenda International Conference (AHAIC 2017) is scheduled to take place at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Nairobi-Kenya on March 7-9, 2017. The conference aims to explore and debate on how Africa can influence the global health agenda to improve health and human rights on the continent. The objectives fo the conference are:

  • To bring together researchers, policy makers, practitioners, the private sector, advocates for health and civil society together to reflect on home-grown solutions to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals across the continent.
  • To share scientific research findings and best practices addressing health and health systems in Africa
  • To identify and discuss gaps and challenges in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals in Africa.

The Management Development Institute (MDI) program will host a side meeting thereafter followed by an 'invite-only' dinner at the conference. The objective of the side event is to celebrate the success of the program since its inception in 2006 and also honour alumni and the major strides they have made in their instutions and communities as a result of participating in the MDI training and implementing their Community Healthcare Improvement Projects (CHIPs). The objective of the dinner is to draw out lessons and highlight factors for success stories from previous beneficiaries (alumni) of the MDI training. The focus of discussion is how to sustain the impact of leadership and management training on health systems and to explore expansion of training through innovations.

At this meeting, a high-level team of panelist and selected beneficiaries of the program (MDI alumni) will draw out lessons and highlight factors for success stories during and post-MDI training. The focus of the discussion will be how to sustain the impact of leadership and management training on health systems and to explore expansion of training through innovations.
