Event description
Come learn about water quality issues and learn to monitor stream health by collecting and identifying benthic macroinvertebrates!

About this Event

Save Our Streams (SOS) is a fun way to test water quality by collecting and identifying underwater insects, called macroinvertebrates. The Izaak Walton League is working with the Mt.Airy Chapter to provide a workshop for those who wish to become a certified SOS or CMC Biological Monitors. Visit https://www.chesapeakemonitoringcoop.org/services/benthic-training/ to learn more about biological monitoring through the Chesapeake Monitoring Cooperative.

We will start at 9:30 am at the chapter house and move to a nearby stream in the afternoon for practice in the stream.

Please bring boots or waders if you have them, and a water bottle. Lunch will be provided!
