Welcome to Savannah Jazz.

Savannah Jazz was born out of the Coastal Jazz Association, a grassroots non-profit organization formed in 1981 to help Jazz thrive in Savannah, Georgia by sponsoring live performances, encouraging Jazz education, and fostering the camaraderie of others with shared interests. Savannah Jazz is responsible for the annual Savannah Jazz Festival, the Savannah Jazz Hall of Fame, and the Savannah Jazz Orchestra. Members of Savannah Jazz enjoy 10 free world-class jazz concerts per year.

Savannah Jazz Festival:
With major funding provided by the City of Savannah the 38thAnnual Savannah Jazz Festival takes place in venues throughout the city, culminating in three days in the historic Forsyth Park, and traditional ‘after-hours’ jam sessions around town.  World class blues, gospel, funk, Latin jazz, and traditional jazz are the featured genres this year. 27 performances are entirely free allowing us to unite all races and cultures through jazz music.

Savannah Jazz History and Hall of Fame Exhibit

Savannah has been home to important jazz legends such as Johnny Mercer, Ben Tucker, James Moody, Irene Reid, Ben Riley, Eddie Pazant, Sahid Shihab, Joe “King” Oliver, and many more including living legend, Teddy Adams. These fine performers are all in the Savannah Jazz Hall of Fame, which has been overseen by the Coastal Jazz Association.

The organization’s new name, Savannah Jazz, trumpets the importance of the City’s past and continuing contributions to America’s art form of jazz music.  To fully tell the story of Savannah’s rich jazz history, which is as old as that of New Orleans’, Savannah Jazz is creating the forthcoming Savannah Jazz History and Hall of Fame Exhibit to be housed in the Savannah History Museum.

Savannah Jazz is a 501(c)3 charitable organization.
