Event description

Description

Celebrate the rocket that took American astronauts to the moon at this free event following the regular First Sunday of the month model rocket launches at the NASA Goddard Visitor Center.

The NARHAMS model rocket club will display and launch models of the Saturn V rocket. A presentation will be made in the auditorium that recaps the Saturn V launch vehicle and includes poignant memories of the astronauts, journalists and spectators that experienced a Saturn V launch from Cape Canaveral, Florida.

A special, free Saturn V 50th Anniversary Commemorative hand-out will be available. This handout details the technical characteristics and dimensions of the Saturn V rocket and highlights the missions flown from 1968 to 1973. Celebrate the moon rocket which still remains the most powerful launch vehicle yet to leave the Earth’s atmosphere.
