Saturday Seminar - Building STEAM!

Saturday, March 1, 2014 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM (PST)
Design. Build. Transform
Our Keynote speaker will make the case for audacious design + building projects in the classroom. She will present her own programs, Studio H and Camp H for girls as case studies for how critical creativity and hands-on construction projects for community benefit give students the space and voice to build their own futures.
Emily Pilloton; Emily founded Project H to use design to empower people, amplify the raw brilliance of youth, and to get her hands dirty after too many years in an office. Trained in architecture (UC Berkeley) and product design (SAIC), Emily believes in design as an honest process of building and activism for community benefit. Most days she resides in the Studio H classroom/shop with her high school students, but travels occasionally for lectures and workshops around the world. A California girl, runner, border collie lover, and unwavering optimist, she has appeared on the TED stage and the Colbert Report, and authored the book Design Revolution.
Keynote presentation begins promptly at 9:00 am in the library. Additional workshops for math, science, and writing to follow.
Come early and enjoy coffee, tea, and bagels while you network with other Bay Area teachers.
